Part of the mission of The Council is to support projects and programs that make the City of Fort Worth and Tarrant County a better place to live. The Council is proud to support the following programs. 2008 Bond Election The Greater Fort Worth Real Estate Council is supportive of the 2008 bond election as one of the means for improving transportation within the region. GFW REC will continue to look for other ways to support mass transit within Fort Worth and Tarrant County. The Party in Fort Worth GFW REC was proud to sponsor The Party in Fort Worth in February 0f 2008. This party raises funds for the city of Fort Worth to use for economic incentive projects. The Zucker Report This study was initiated by the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the City of Fort Worth to conduct a review and study of the City of Fort Worth’s development process. The report includes 165 recommendations for improving Fort Worth’s development process. For a copy of the report and information on implementation, please visit www.fortworthgov.org/Development/ The Council is working on a meeting to update all members about this report, its findings and the implementation of the recommendations. Vision North Texas Vision North Texas is making an important contribution to the future quality of life, economic desirability and long-term sustainability of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. It is increasing public awareness about important regional land use issues that affect mobility, air quality, water supply and other economic and environmental resources. In addition, it is serving as a forum for discussion, education, research and decision about public and private sector actions to address these concerns. Importantly, it is addressing these concerns through a partnership of the private, public, non-profit and academic sectors. With this mission in mind, The Council felt is was imperative to help support this long range planning process. The Council is a supporter of Phase II and will continue to keep members informed and up to date on the results developed during this phase. To find out more about Vision North Texas, visit their website at http://www.visionnorthtexas.org The Library Foundation In 1993, The Fort Worth Public Library Foundation was established to work with elected officials and city staff to reverse the trend of public library system that was not a priority of the City Council. Severe economic times had necessitated years of budget cuts affecting hours, staffing and ultimately materials but the foundation was committed to restoring the public library to a place of prominence in the community. Over the past 12 years, the Library Foundation has raised over approximately $6 million in private funding to benefit the Fort Worth Public Library. The Council was pleased to help support the 9th annual Cigar Smoker, a signature event held at the prestigious Fort Worth Club. The Cigar Smoker is an entertaining evening featuring Montecristo and Romeo y Julieta cigars, a seated wild game dinner, fine wines and spirits, a martini bar, live entertainment, raffle drawings and silent and live auctions. For more information on the Library Foundation, visit their website at www.fwlibraryfoundation.org/ To view a sample of real estate information and other helpful sources available at the Fort Worth Public Library, click the following link.
